As one of Selma’s many colleagues, I would like to join in our collective
thanks and praise for Selma’s tremendous achievements in progressing the
agenda on injection safety.

We look forward to the future of SIGN and towards universal injection

KHAMASSI, Selma <KhamassiS@who.int>

Dear SIGN members friends and colleagues

I would like to let you know that, after 10 years at WHO HQ managing the
Injection Safety Programme and the SIGN Secretariat, I am retiring from
WHO ! It is really difficult for me to say good bye to all of you !
The good news is that I will still contribute to WHO work on injection
safety especially after we have issued the new policy and started the
implementation of a global injection safety project under different
capacities .

I would like to thank you all for the great collaboration and interaction
we had over the years to move forward the injection safety agenda and
bring it under the spotlights as a very cost effective public health
intervention!

Here is my personal email address for us to continue being in touch and
collaborating on this topic of interest to all of us:

Selma.khamassi@gmail.com

With my very best regards to all

Selma Khamassi

New WHO Injection Safety Guidelines

WHO is urging countries to transition, by 2020, to the exclusive use of
the new “smart” syringes, except in a few circumstances in which a syringe
that blocks after a single use would interfere with the procedure.

The new guideline is:

WHO Guideline on the use of Safety-Engineered Syringes for Intramuscular,
Intradermal and Subcutaneous Injections in Health Care
